Silicon Valley Virtual Intern Portfolio Review and Mock Interview

Overview:

This is a virtual volunteer event. As a part of our Internship Seminar (ISEM), each student is tasked with presenting a 6-minute spotlight on their internship, followed by a 10-minute interview conducted by volunteers within their small coaching groups that consists of 1 Year Up Staff member and 6-7 Year Up student colleagues. The students will discuss their roles, their experience, and key learnings from their internship experience. The objective is to prepare students for interview questions and networking event engagements, equipping them with the skills to tailor their resume, confidently answer interview questions, and communicate their internship role effectively.

Volunteer Role:

As a volunteer, you will play a crucial role in facilitating these mock interviews and providing constructive feedback to the students. Your responsibilities will include:

• Listening attentively to student presentations.
• Asking professional and insightful questions based on the presentation content and the student's resume.
• Providing balanced feedback to the presenter, highlighting strengths and areas for improvement.
• Conducting yourself professionally and wearing interview-ready attire.

Deliverables:

• Attend the designated Internship Portfolio and Mock Interview sessions. Expect to block time from1:30 PM to 4 PM on Wednesday 6/26.
• Prepare 2-3 questions based on the student's presentation and resume.
• Provide constructive feedback to the student presenter.

Schedule:

The mock interviews and internship presentations will take place on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, during the Internship Seminar (2 PM PST to 4 PM PST). The detailed schedule will be provided to you in advance, and your commitment during the designated time slots is greatly appreciated.
